5 Must-Have Travel Accessories for a Long Flight

As a frequent flyer, I've learned to simplify my packing list while maintaining must-haves (especially for 10+ hour flights). Here are a few items I can't live without while flying economy and airport surfing.

Noise Cancelling Headphones
I've always been an earbud vs headphone user, I usually go for the minimal look. But a crying baby or loud talker can make a couple-hour flight feel like days (something I've learned the hard way). Luckily, modern technology can cancel out the noise, literally. I recently received the Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless headphones as a gift and can't recommend them enough. I'm astounded by the noise canceling quality. These headphones transport you to a different dimension. Plus, the comfort is unmatched. No need to worry about your AirPod falling out while quickly loading your carry-on into the overhead bin. And with an extended battery life, these headphones are perfect for long flights.
These are definitely splurge-worthy, but if you are looking for superb sound at a more affordable price here are some other highly reviewed noise cancelling options:
Airfly
I usually download entertainment onto my phone before a flight but sometimes I get the itch to watch a new movie offered by the airline. To use wireless earphones while watching the airline screen, you need a Bluetooth audio transmitter. The Airfly is the tried-and-true tech accessory for frequent flyers, allowing you to transmit audio from in-flight entertainment to your wireless headphones or AirPods.

Spill-Proof, Insulated Waterbottle
This may seem dramatic but the Owala FreeSip water bottle has changed my life. I love to sip out of a straw but hate carrying around a bulky water bottle with my straw exposed to the world (and TSA bins). Plus, you can't throw a standard water bottle with a straw into your bag when you're running late. The sleek Owala design is spillproof, easily fits in my backpack, and keeps water ice cold. I love that I can discreetly sip out of the built-in straw or chug from the spout after an in-air nap.

Like I said, I'm biased toward the Owala since it's my new emotional support water bottle. But here are some other insulated drinkwear options perfect for travelers.
Portable Charger
There is nothing worse than running out of juice before you hit the tarmac of your destination. A portable charger is must have item to have in your bag. What should you be looking for? Something lightweight and compact. I personally like portable chargers with built-in cables to minimize my packing list.

Kindle
Ok, I understand the power a tangible book can provide - the crispy pages, the fresh book smell. But I try to avoid being the passenger with their overhead light on at all costs - especially during a redeye or extended flight. With digital books, you can read in the dark using the back-lit, high-resolution screen. Best part? The Kindle is compact and will easily squeeze into your (over-packed) carry-on.

Love these tips! You’re making me excited to pack my carry on for my next trip!
Great tips ! Well thought out and concise! Thanks!
